Anders - One of the main reasons given for ETH not picking him is his ability to play out from defence YouTube is full of his abysmal ball distribution.

Dawson was error prone, scored own goals and often got caught out because of his lack of pace, if he'd cost £30 million nobody would have liked him.

Oh and Manuel son, let's talk about the subject at hand not something from the past as you love to tell others when they pull you up. Oh and of course get a life son :-)

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
Why is everyone worried about his lack of pace? We play with 10 back in our own 3rd 80% of the time.

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
At the end of the day a couple of signings is better than no signings at all. If we get both Maguire and JWP in at least we will have good leadership at the Club by signing two Captains. Maguire certainly will have a point to prove and is a left-sided central defender which was a problem area when Moyes was playing Zouma there. If we can step up again on our set pieces (JWP) taking them, then Maguire will also be a threat. He hasn't had the best of times recently but you don't have Man United paying 80 m for you if you are a bad player.

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
It looks like Moyes has won his battle with Steidten, and we're going full "Moyesball" this season with little input from the technical director.

Much as I hate it, once the club insisted on sticking with Moyes then you probably have to let the manager do it his way - and give him enough rope to hang himself with, or succeed with. It would have been odd to back Moyes and then hamstring him by not allowing him to bu the players he wants.

Maguire is a classic Moyes player - and will probably do well in the manager's system (in the way Zouma has and the likes of Jagielka did under Moyes at Everton). Big, strong, aggressive, threat from set pieces...and we did need a skipper to replace Rice.

I don't really have a problem with signing Harry. He was never worth £80m at Man Utd, but we've signed an England regular for £30m and we now have a captain who likes to get stuck in.

As with any West Ham signing, I hope he does well for us. But make no mistake, it's full Moyesball for us this season.

Same with Ward-Prowse. Moyes has basically found his replacement for Noble (quite a similar player, bit less quality on the ball, much better with set-pieces: also a leader). I'm guessing he thinks Alvarez is as close as he'll get to a replacement for Rice.

Who's the next Antonio to replace the ageing Antonio? Traore? Moyes is basically trying to replicate the squad he took to 6th and 7th.

This site!

I’m not going to pretend I’m a huge Maguire fan but to write him off before he has even put the shirt on is mental, we did the same with Dawson and look how that turned out.

He is 30, he has never had pace so it’s not as though he will lose that over the next few years so I think he could be a good signing, he will want to show people that he is still good enough.

He turned down other clubs to join US, that means a lot.

Let’s give him a chance, we might be proved wrong.

The most obvious transfer of all time.

Looks like Moyes won that internal power struggle.

My main concern is starting the season with just Antonio and Ings as our striker options.

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
There is still a decent player there for a team like us but my problem is that we already have decent enough options there so unless he is replacing someone then he will either be an expensive bench player or an existing one will.
I honestly think that if supporters could get behind him that he'd get his confidence back and make less mistakes but much depends on his character and whether this is a good paycheck to retire on or he wants to actually prove his worth.

I have no idea what Moyes plans are but could he be looking at a back 3 with wingbacks?

Does he start ahead of Aguerd?
Or do we start playing a back 3?

Apparently mcGuire he’s not great on the right side of a defence?

I take it Kherer is now a full time RB? So he’ll be off unless we make him a DM as well possibly?

"but could he be looking at a back 3 with wingbacks?"

He's gone about it the completely wrong way if that's his plan. We've pretty much played all preseason with 4 at the back, so it would be really stupid to suddenly change our formation and the way we play 3 days before the season kicks off.

Mind you, didn't he also try that last season with dreadful results, so anything is possible?

West Ham about to confirm signing of 3 International players, 2 of which are England Internationals and this website can’t find enough cuss to slag anyone and anything off. For fuck sake wait and see the players play together before you all jerk off at the next opportunity to criticise everything about the club.
If only we’d won something last year, maybe all this bullshit would not have happened. Oh, hang on?

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
An English, International standard, experienced spine through the team represents good business for us and replaces the likes of Dawson, Rice, Noble in that repspect. What is essential now before the window closes is that we add some youth and flare/pace.

Re: Harry Maguire - West Ham United Captain
I kind of agree with you Lizard.

These guys haven't even made a cheesy signing on video yet and here we are writing them off.

I would however say though that I would like to have seen some young up and coming players signed otherwise what is the point of TS?
